“Consistently I’ve said … we will be acting in a way that properly serves the interests of democracy in Queensland,” he told reporters on Sunday.
“So yes, we probably will be supporting them as though they had greater complement.”
The Liberal National Party will have as many as 74 seats in parliament.
Mr Newman said he was “overwhelmed” by the swing to the LNP, which is in order of 15 per cent.
“We didn’t ever expect anything like this and that’s why we’ll be so concerned to conduct ourselves in an appropriate manner,” he said.
